When it comes to skin care, especially moisturisers, I’m always wary when I try new products and am always a little scared to deviate from my norm because I struggle with acne. However, the minute I smelled the Origins GinZing moisturiser more than a year ago, I wanted to give it a try (if we are being honest here, solely based on its scent). I decided to take the plunge recently when I ran out of my trusty Clinique moisturiser.
Origins GinZing moisturiser is formulated with Panax Ginseng and coffee bean. Origins describes this moisturiser as lightweight, oil-free and energising which instantly hydrates and revs up radiance and is suited for all skin types. According to their website, this moisturiser has won the Influencer 2017 awards and is one of their best sellers.
Having combination and acne prone skin, I tend to favour gel based moisturisers over cream ones for day use as i feel they don’t clog my pores as much and at the same time gives it enough moisture to keep the oiliness at bay.
The moisturiser itself has a gel texture and is very light-weight which glides effortlessly over the skin and it absorbs quickly. It has a zesty, citrusy smell to it which is what attracted me in the first place but some people have found the scent to be quite over powering. It doesn’t linger at all, you only smell it upon applying. I call it ‘my wake-up potion in a jar’. I’m usually one who tends to favour non- fragranced skin care, but I’ll make an exception for this one. It is meant for morning and night use but i tend to only use it in my morning skin care routine. It sits nicely under make up for those of you wondering.
My overall thoughts on this product is I personally loved it as its a simple, no frills day time moisturiser. Its light weight, sinks into the skin nicely and wears well under make up. I also usually layer a hydrating toner and serum underneath to amp up its hydrating properties. The scent is a plus point for me. It did not give an extra glow neither did it increase radiance to my skin as stated in their website however, it did hydrate my skin well through out the day, and thats what I look for in a day time moisturiser.
This moisturiser is for you if you have oily to combo skin. Its great if you’re looking for something to sink in quickly and hydrate your skin throughout the day. I personally wouldn’t recommend this to dry skin types or for night time use as I think it may not be hydrating enough. I also would not recommend this if you’re looking for more anti ageing or active ingredients in your moisturiser.
